TORO RISENGRØT
A ancient Norwegian tradition! For several hundred years, porridge was eaten everyday by most Norwegians. Barley, rye, wheat and oats were the options. When the rice found its way to Norway in the mid-1600s, rice porridge became a festive food apart from porridge.
INGREDIENTS:
Rice 95%, sugar, salt, vanilla flavor.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Empty bag contents into a saucepan. 2. Add 6c milk and 1c water. 3. Bring to a boil while stirring and let the porridge simmer uncovered for 25 minutes. If the porridge thickens to much before eating dilute as necessary with a little milk. Served with cinnamon, sugar and often a small dollop of butter. Dining Tips-RICE CREAM Leftovers of rice pudding mixed with whipped cream and a little sugar and vanilla sugar (use approx. 1c whipping cream to approx. ½ ltr porridge). Raisins or coarsely chopped almonds or pieces of orange are nice in this. Serve with red sauce.
