Description
OLDTIMERS SALTY LICORICE (HINDELOOPER)
In 1924 my father, Douwe Douwenga, visited the Hindelooper fair with three friends. After a few pitchers of beer, a jolly mood ensued and those friends locked my father up in one of those old wooden shelters. My father was on the toilet for four hours, but he used that time usefully!
His only contact with the outside world was the small diamond-shaped opening in the door. Through it he could see exactly, on the town hall, the coat of arms of Hindeloopen. A golden, galloping doe in a green pasture. Then he was out. Not from the toilet, but from the idea for a new licorice. Firm, mildly salty, diamond-shaped, with a doe. The Hindelooper Ruitjesdrop was soon a resounding success!
